Back from the Dead

But not in the creepy, undead zombie kind of way. Sadly, I was attacked by an evil flu bug on Sunday night and basically slept from Sunday until 1pm today (tuesday) with brief, rather unpleasant, interruptions. Suffice it to say, I don’t really want to discuss what I had for dinner on Sunday before I started feeling ill! 😦

Having the flu also meant I was destined for some pretty bland eats for the past 36 hours. Lots of plain pasta and peppermint tea. When I finally got up today, at 1pm, I felt like I had come back from the dead. Finally, my fever was gone, my stomach wasn’t shaking its fists at me, and my joints weren’t aching. Hallelujiah! For my first meal as a new girl, I had this wonder:

A whole grain english muffin with almond butter, 2 chopped prunes, 1/2 ripe banana and a sprinkling of mini chocolate chips + large cup of fresh cherries.

This kept me full for almost 6 hours! Around 5, I took Bodhi for a nice 2 mile walk and he loved it! Bodhi was the best caretaker for the past two days. He watched over me while I slept, stayed right by my side, and knew exactly when I needed someone to snuggle with (especially since The Huz needed to keep his distance in hopes of staying healthy!). I was more than happy to reward the pup with a nice walk and some play time at the dog park and he had a blast with a Rhodesian Ridgeback we met there.

The Huz planned on having the same food as Sunday night’s ill-fated dinner so I made some more pasta and added the leftover clam sauce. Thankfully, my memories of this meal were much better and tonight’s rendition did not disappoint. I even shredded some romano cheese on top and had another bowl of cherries on the side.

And for dessert, I mixed up a little bowl of wonder:

1/2 dried pineapple ring
2 pieces dried mango
palmful of dried cherries
banana chips
mini chocolate chips
1 fig
small piece of dried papaya
4 almonds
3 pecans
1 walnut
2 pieces almond brittle, broken up

I also made another batch of iced tea, which is now cooling in my Nalgene bottle and I can’t wait to take it to work with me tomorrow! For now, I think it’s time to get some sleep 🙂

  4. I agree with April – prunes are delicious! If only they didn’t have the geriatric stigma associated with them…I might stop by the 54th St SHRED class on Friday – I work 2 blocks away. Let me know if you plan on going!

  11. I just realized that SHRED at the 54th St location starts at 5:30pm and I have work until that time. Bah! I will try to sneak out a little early, but if I don’t make it, perhaps we can meet up at another point sometime soon?
